Remember the Alterna Ocean Waves that we talked about? Today it's time for another little fella that will help you achieve those effortless beach curls. Let's roll!
Bumble & Bumble was founded way back in 1977 in NYC, when Michael Gordon decided to make his own and also the first non-eponymous salon on the block. No need to say that the funny name was raising a lot of eyebrows. Nowadays, the company is focused on elevating the craft of hairstyling and creating editorial-quality products, while revering authenticity and creativity in all forms. Few of their best-selling products are Straight Blow Dry, Hairdresser's Invisible Oil, Sumotech, Thickening Hairspray, and the guest star of this post - the Surf Spray.
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray (eng, slo). This bad boy is intended to quickly and easily achieve those sexy, salty, sun-dried, windswept styles. It's appropriate for anyone (not just surfers) and should add body to your hair. It has a light hold and a matte finish, so it's excellent for all hair types. You can use it anytime, meaning on dry or wet hair.
Words of an average clueless user (me)
I usually work this salty solution trough lightly damp hair, then I let them dry naturally or with a gentle blow-dry. Considering the price of this spray (around 25€, depends where you buy it), it does its job like it's supposed to. It's fair to say that it's a brilliant surf spray. I have long, normal, rather straight hair, but this stuff can get it to hold decent waves with little work; just a few spritzes and a bit of messy hand motions will do the job. It also adds unbelievable texture to my hair. Now I finally understand all the fuss that went on a few years ago when this product appeared on the market, hallelujah.
Words of wisdom by a pro (Matevž from Mitrilas)
This salt-water-based styling product instantly gives you the texture you get when vacationing on the seaside and ignoring your hairdresser's advice; you know, to rinse the salty water out as soon as possible to avoid damage. But is there anything sexier than those seawater-infused waves? Nope, I don't think so.
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray works great in terms of creating the salty, beachy texture and keeping up the volume. A matte finish is a plus, of course.
Is it a good styling product? Sure. Does it deliver what it promises? It does. Just don't expect anything else from this popular styling lotion though, as it isn't meant to take care of your tresses in any other manner (forget about moisture or nourishment, it's pure styling). And while we're at it, the best result of its use is delivering the texture; you'll need some tips and tricks to get the waves in place if you don't want to end up with a huge bird nest on your head. We will cover the tips and tricks shortly, so keep an eye on this blog!
+ medium hair (not too thin, not too thick)
+ naturally wavy hair (otherwise curling iron is a must to get to the wavy part)
Stay tuned, guys! We'll be presenting an easy trick for achieving that ultimate beach curls with Surf Spray in the next post!
